Gifting an exotic diamond necklace to your lady!

Joshua Jackson, well-known movie and television actor (Fringe TV series) apparently bid for (and won!) a diamond necklace worth $45,000. Joshua bid for the necklace in a private auction held at the recent “Nights in Monaco” benefit dinner in Monte Carlo for his girlfriend, the beautiful Diane Kruger. Joshua then had the auctioneers ship the necklace to his lady love, who was abroad at that time. We’re sure that the necklace was insured, but even then, to ship something so valuable seems extremely risky.

Don’t bother to bid, insure or courier – just gift!

When it comes to diamond necklaces, unless you can throw lots of money like Joshua Jackson, you don’t need to bid at all. When you bid for a piece of jewelry, you’re paying for the piece’s provenance (previous history of ownership which lends to its antique value). The extra money that’s paid out doesn’t exactly increase the beauty of the necklace, though it does help appreciate its value over time. When it comes to your lady, treat her to a one-in-a-million uniquely designed diamond necklace from Asmi, Gili or D’dmas available at Woohoo.in.

Don’t bother to ship, be safe and wise!

With a gift card from Woohoo.in, all you’ll be doing is investing in a gift card that cannot be misused. Your lady will receive the card safely, even if she is in another state within India. With this card, she can visit several outlets of the store you’ve chosen, and take her time to select the necklace of her choice. It’s completely safe, 100% value for money, no outrageous bids and definitely no worry about loss during shipment.

Gifting Dining Experience in India

A fabulous dinner at a top restaurant that boasts great food, ambience and presentation; won’t that make a fine gift for someone? People are thinking in terms of gifting experiences to their loved ones, friends and business contacts these days. Gone are the days when a gift meant something for which you actually went to a store and shopped. Today it’s all about gift cards and the fabulous things you can gift through them. A fine dining experience is one of these unbeatable gifting options that people can really enjoy.

Why a Dining Experience makes for a unique Gift?

Are you someone who’s always busy at work and never have time to spend with your spouse? Consider buying a gift card from Woohoo.in for a fine dining restaurant that serves your spouse’s favorite cuisine. Attach your special message to it and have it delivered. You’ll be solving two issues with one move – making your spouse extraordinarily happy and creating the opportunity for a future fine dining experience!

Your gift card is valid for several months, which means you’ll have plenty of time to plan a special evening with your spouse. What’s more, some restaurants even offer regular patron privileges to gift card holders. Use the fine dining gift experience to explore multiple cuisines on special occasions and extend your foodie appreciation.

A Dining experience is nice & appropriate Gift

As with all experiences, a dining experience makes for a generic and therefore very appropriate gift for anyone. If you are a corporate manager, you can buy several gift cards in bulk, and offer them to your employees as part of your employee reward scheme. You can even gift them to your clients at the end of a successful transaction, as a token of your appreciation. You can buy dining experience gift cards for your family, friends – just about anyone. Your gift recipient chooses the actual venue, the date, time and the occasion. All you do is pay for the gift card. That makes it perfect, right?

You can choose from a wide range of Restaurants and Cuisines

If you know what kind of cuisine your gift recipient likes, go ahead and pick up a gift card or voucher from a restaurant that offers it. Think of Mainland China for fabulous Chinese and Indo-Chinese cuisine or BJN Group for authentic Indian cuisine. There’s a plethora of choices when it comes to fine dining options, something to suit everyone’s taste buds. Again, all that you have to do is just buy the gift card and have it delivered! The rest is done by the gift card company, while you smile with satisfaction.

Gift a Wonderful Trip through Gift Cards

Can you imagine getting a gift card through courier one fine day for an actual trip? People plan their vacation breaks for ages and save up for trips they want to take with their families. The very idea of getting a trip experience as a gift that still allows you to choose and configure trip details is a luxury beyond comparison.

Why a Trip Experience is so Special?

Everyone dreams of taking a trip with someone they love. We all want a bit of escape from our daily routines. A trip signifies something new, something exciting, and something apart from the usual and therefore special and much anticipated. Take advantage of this feeling and use a trip experience to reward your employees and surprise your spouse, parents or children.

Ideal situations for a Trip Gift Experience

  1. Assume your parents are retiring from their jobs and wondering what to do with their time. Isn’t that the perfect opportunity to gift them a trip, so that they can enjoy their newly found freedom from the daily dirge of work? You could buy them a new music system but it won’t have the same significance.
  2. Then, consider a newly married couple as potential gift recipients. A newly married couple is always looking for opportunities to be alone to celebrate their togetherness. Let a trip experience be your gift to them.
  3. A trip experience is a great idea for customers and clients too. It’s a generic enough gift and a nice gesture, when you consider that even your customers and clients need their vacation breaks. A trip experience certainly beats product discounts or a leather planner set as gifts!

How a Trip Experience works?

As the giver, all you have to do is purchase a Make My Trip gift card from Woohoo.in. Your recipient gets your gift card along with the terms of validity and your special message. Your gift recipient can book the entire trip through the travel site, including accommodation, tour packages, hotel to airport transfers, car rentals and so on. Your gift voucher covers the entire gamut of the travel experience, so there’s no need to separately arrange for any details.

Why a Trip Experience gift will be remembered ever after?

The beauty of this gift card is that your recipients can use it anytime within the validity period. There’s no rush. In the case of the wedded couple, they can complete their marriage formalities, get settled in and then cash in your trip experience gift card when they’re ready for honeymoon trip.  Isn’t that fabulous? Your gift recipients will remember your gift long after they have forgotten who gave them the crystal vase or the steel container set.

Best Occasions for a Gift Card!!

What’s the best occasion for a gift card? Will any occasion do or does it have to be something special? We’ve explored a few common and special occasions here to give you an idea.

Birthdays

A birthday is always special, to the birthday boy or girl and to their friends and family. A beautifully packaged gift card with all the power of choice and the flexibility it brings is the ideal gift choice for a birthday.

Anniversaries

An anniversary, especially a wedding anniversary is an occasion for two people to celebrate their oneness and happiness. A gift card gives both people the opportunity to jointly shop for the product that they both like. Plus, a gift card liberates the giver’s need to personally select a common gift for both or two separate gifts for the couple.

Festivals

Whether it’s one of the great festivals of India or a fun festival like Valentine’s Day, a gift card is the ideal option. Again, it’s about the recipient’s freedom of choice. It’s also about the opportunity to gift something expensive like jewelry for a festival. With a gift card, security is not a concern.

Life Achievements

Everyone has several special occasions, days on which specific achievements take place. Think of a job promotion, a graduation, a son or daughter’s first job and so on. Each occasion is perfect for a gift card, to let the recipient know how proud you are of their achievement.

Gift Cards as Business Gifts

Buying something for a business partner, client or loyal customer is always dicey. You want the gift to be impersonal, tasteful and yet professional. With a Woohoo gift card, you no longer have to worry about the appropriateness of your selection. You don’t have to worry about client satisfaction either! Your gift card gives them the freedom of choice, freeing you from all worries.

How to use a Gift Card?

If you’re the lucky recipient of a gift card, how do you use it? A gift card can open the doors to a long and satisfying relationship with a brand. Be sure to check all your options.

Check the card validity and Terms of Use

Your card’s validity and terms of use will be printed on it, or in the attached document. Be sure to read the fine print and use the card before it expires.

Find out if you can Shop Online

Many brands are available online. You can save yourself a lot of trouble by finding out if there’s an online store, and shop from the comfort of your own home.

Explore the Stores close to your Home

If there are several stores that accept your gift card, check a few of them out. Do all of them stock the same variety of goods? Shop at the store that offers you the greatest return on your card.

Window Shop for the right product

Check out a few products and decide where you want to invest your gift money. If you buy something on impulse and then see something that you really want, you’ll regret your purchase.

One-time Purchase or Multiple visits?

Do you want to spend your card’s entire value in a single shopping trip? Or do you want to drag out the pleasure for multiple trips? Make this decision based on your card’s value and the price of the items you want.

Send a Thank You note to the Sender

Don’t forget to pen a sweet thank you note to the sender! Thank him or her for the gift card and the great shopping experience. Enjoy your gift card!

How to Buy a Gift Card?

If you haven’t considered buying a gift card in place of a gift yet, here’s how you go about buying a gift card for someone.

Finding the Right occasion for a Gift Card

Almost all occasions are perfect for a gift card, except those occasions that only call for small tokens. If you’re investing a considerable denomination, consider an occasion that’s very important to your recipients. It could be their wedding anniversary, or the housewarming function of their first home. The bigger the occasion, the more benefit your recipient can glean from your gift card.

Understanding your gift recipient’s likes and dislikes

Is there any point in gifting a Landmark gift card to someone who has no interest in books or music? Check with your common friends and even go back to your previous conversations with the recipient. You will hit upon the right gift idea.

Choosing the Right Brand

Choose a brand that has an excellent reputation, a good range of quality items and great customer service. Remember, you’re choosing a gift card because you’re also gifting the shopping experience. So pick a brand whose stores offer a great shopping experience for your gift recipient.

Choosing the Right Denomination

Find out the cost of the least expensive item at your chosen brand and multiply that value by 3. This forms a decent denomination for your gift card, and allows your recipient to shop several times.

Adding the Right Personal Message

Include a personal message that conveys your intent or feeling. Keep your message respectful and impersonal for clients and partners, loving and sweet for friends, sentimental for family and so on. Your message is part of your gift.

Story of an unused gift

Sometime in the Pre Historic Era before the birth of Gift Cards) Elizabeth had a pleasing personality and was a very comforting presence as the only Indian in midst of around 20 Arabs, all attired in Dishdashas and Abayas (the traditional attire of Arab men and women respectively). I was to work with this group for a fortnight, providing them training in Microsoft office. Well, all of them were indeed very friendly and cooperative, but Elizabeth took it upon herself to make me comfortable in the very alien environment and also acted as an interpreter when the Indian English made no sense to the Arab junta and vice versa. When it was time for good byes, the gracious lady once again charmed me with her thoughtfulness –she pushed a little pink packet into my hands. Gifts are always exciting, doubly so when they come from the most unexpected quarters. I couldn’t wait to open it and when I did, it was a shirt –a happy-blue one with long sleeves. It was lovely!!I was already mentally teaming it up with my denims and flowing white skirt. I couldn’t wait to try it on. And I could definitely not wait till the next day. So what if dinner was rice, sambar and cabbage? I decided I could still dress up for dinner. A “qwik” shower and I get into my happy blue shirt …..well, hmmmm … my lovely blue shirt turns out to be a disaster ..I fill it out a little too much. But I don’t lose my heart. It’s just a few inches and a couple of kilos to shed. My happy Blue shirt would surely motivate me. I was already preparing a diet plan and a workout schedule. I just couldn’t give away Elizabeth’s gift without even wearing it once. And so in the last many years, the Happy blue shirt has travelled with me from Kuwait to Hyderabad to Bangalore. She still hangs there in my cupboard, hoping that some day, some day she will be chosen over her neighbors in the cupboard. Her only solace is that she now has the company of a pink kurta that had a disastrous alteration and a lime green jacket that dusky beauties should keep a safe distance from!! They seem to be in there for a very long wait… In spite of not being a hoarder by nature, there are a few such sartorial nightmares that I do hoard for various reasons-if some are gifted by special people, then some are too expensive to be given away. So you carry the baggage for years and years waiting for the kilos to shed, for the skin to lighten, for your niece to grow up, for your daughter to be born…… I have always wondered if this was the psycho-sentimental me at play. Why be bundled with ill fitting clothes? Why not gift the power to choose. If Elizabeth had a choice, am sure she would have delightfully gifted me a GIFT CARD. And the Happy Blue Shirt would have been MY TRULY HAPPY BLUE SHIRT. – Uma Menon

Ah! The Gifted weekend Payback time !

I remember the days where occasions were few and gifts were limited but the happiness that came with it was tremendous. We would wait for the occasion, await the arrival of uncles especially the ones well placed as in terms of money so the gifts would be big The sheer size of the box was a reflected on the face …a smile from end to end to no end at all . That was 1982. Time’s changed quickly and today its 2011. Festivals remained true to their origin, ideas changed of gifting but the Indianism approach to gifting did not change. It merely refined from the beady eyes of 1982 into looking at the guests and then slowly at the hands, are those hands flowing with the wind or are they holding onto a something. This reminds me of the good old punch line we used to use during college days where invitations boldly read “presence with presents only “ Now 2010 October: This year has seen all of us survive the tides of recession and wanting to unwind on the weekends after the great struggle of not the hard work but the effort in holding onto our jobs and keeping the moolah flowing into the coffers of the ambitious bosses , so now it’s time to unfold what happened that wonderful sunset evening…. It was my son’s birthday and the regular gifts rolled in as usual….and the fun went on until late midnight. For the adults the spirits were boosted with rich wines and wonderful delicacies and for a party lover and a food lover like me there is no limit to any of these ingredients. Just before sunrise like vampires the last drop of spirit was set free from the crystal container into its new journey to flesh and blood. The morning after………. Son: Papa wake up I got this card. Me: Keep it there someone will come for it …(remember its now 6:00 am) Son: No it says I am gifted with Rupees 500.00 The first thought was the morning prayer – “Thank God for his small mercies” but this was in plastic. There began a new era at home of being gifted, and not to forget ……..gifting. The shopping experience was funny, the choices many and the outlets few. Finally with a lot of convincing that the card cannot add cash onto itself for a bigger gift gained personification as it was the last week of the month and there were no more shops left . All done and it’s time to gift all of you an anatomy of what this gift card business is about. It takes one plastic piece and an impish grin to tell your giftee “yes! I am still in control and you have to buy something from this shop only and you are worth only that denomination on this card”. Quite a wicked way of gifting and a wonderful way of saying goodbye to your weekend. Folks, the gift card ride is here, take it or go shopping and get to hear “what a cheap lamp she gave me and ate so much!” Jai hind! – Sadiq Ahamed
